Who we are
Siel Labs operates the Siel messaging platform at siellabs.com and app.siellabs.com. For data about our own customers and visitors we are the controller. For data our customers send through the platform, such as recipients' numbers and message content, our customer is the controller and we are the processor, acting on their instructions.
What we collect, and why
Account data
Your name, email address, company details, sign in records and the settings you make in the console. We use these to run your account, bill you, answer support requests and keep the service secure. Staff and customer sign ins, failed attempts and changes made in the console are kept in an audit log.
Message data
Recipient numbers, sender IDs, message text, delivery status and timing, and the route a message took. We process these only to deliver messages, report on delivery, bill per message and investigate problems. Message text is encrypted at rest and can be read only by staff whose role requires it; each such access is recorded.
Payment data
Card and PayPal payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record; we receive confirmation of the payment, not your card details. Bank transfers are recorded with the amount, currency and date.
Website data
This website sets no tracking cookies and uses no third party analytics. Our server logs record requests with the client's address for security and capacity planning and are deleted on a short rolling schedule.
How long we keep it
Message text is erased after the retention period set for the platform; the message record without its text is kept for billing and support and then deleted. Account and billing records are kept as long as the account exists and thereafter as long as tax and accounting law require. Audit log entries are kept for as long as the account exists.
Who we share it with
Mobile operators and wholesale partners receive the recipient number, sender and message text needed to deliver each message. Our payment provider receives what it needs to process a payment. Our email provider sends account emails on our behalf. We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Your rights
You can see and change your account data in the console. You can ask us to correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you, and object to or restrict its processing, by writing to hello@siellabs.com. If you are a recipient of messages sent by one of our customers, please contact that customer first; we will help them respond.
Security
Message text and secrets are encrypted in transit and at rest, staff sign in with a second factor, and access to personal data is restricted and recorded. No system is perfect; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you without undue delay.
Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters to you, we will say so in the console or by email before the change takes effect.
